Global coronavirus infections have surpassed 5 million, with almost a third recorded in the US

The global count of coronavirus cases exceeded 5 million on Wednesday, according to Johns Hopkins University’s case tracker.  The US constitutes just under one third of the global cases, with more than 1.5 million.
