The global count of coronavirus cases exceeded 5 million on Wednesday, according to Johns Hopkins University’s case tracker. The US constitutes just under one third of the global cases, with more than 1.5 million. The figure is for all-time cases. Almost 2 million of the 5 million cases have since recovered.
