The ability to read your partner’s emotions can weaken the relationship when anger or contempt enter the fray, research finds.

A team of psychologists aimed to figure out under what circumstances the ability to read another person’s emotions—”empathic accuracy”—is beneficial for a relationship and when it could be harmful.
